Tuberculosis (TB) Test Requirement for a Spouse Visa

Get a Complete Step-By-Step Manual to make a Successful UK Fiance(e) Visa!

There are unfortunately many applicants who are unaware that they are required to provide a TB test certificate to the UKVI, as part of their application for a UK Partner visa (e.g. a fiancée/spouse/proposed civil partner/civil partner) when applying from outside the UK.

I recently had a client contact me after they have had the above scenario happen to them. It was such a shame since the Home Office accepted that the applicant had met all of the requirements for a UK spouse visa, apart from the TB Test certificate.

It is therefore vital for applicants to know whether or not a TB test certificate is required from them. A TB Test certificate is a mandatory requirement for a UK partner visa, depending on the country where they are applying from (i.e. if they are applying from their country of origin or the country where they have permanent residency, for instance an American with a permanent residency in Algeria, who has been living in Algeria for at least 6 months, will be required to have a TB test certificate.

The Home Office has made
a list of countries where a TB test is required from an applicant who is applying for a UK Partner Visa. The current list can be found by clicking here .

If the applicant is required to have a TB Test, they must have this done in a clinic in their country of origin/country of residence, that has been approved by the Home Office.  If there is none available for your country, you must have it done in one located in a neighbouring country. The Home Office has also provided contact details of their approved clinics, and these can be found when clicking on the country where the applicant is applying from, see above link for the full list of countries.
